- SMUD is helping local builders plan energy efficient home communities. They have partnered with 11 local home builders to construct over 4,100 new “Smart Homes.” SMUD offers financing and rebate programs for energy efficient upgrades.
- Green Building Initiative requires all existing State buildings larger than 50,000 square feet to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-Existing Buildings standards to the maximum extent that is cost effective by no later than 2015.
- McClellan Park data center has received Platinum Pre-Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council under the LEED® Green Building Rating System. The McClellan Park facility, located in Sacramento, California, is the industry’s first and only LEED Platinum pre-certified data center.
- The 60,000 square foot facility is Safeway’s first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified store. The store features an extensive recycling and compost program, wind and solar power and local materials.

Starbucks Coffee has opened a LEED Silver-certified roasting plant in Calhoun County, South Carolina. About 20 percent of the building was made from recycled content and more than 75 percent of construction waste was recycled.
DMC Green, Inc. has opened the first electric vehicle charging station in West Sacramento, CA. The DMC-owned charging station, featuring a Coulomb Technologies ChargePoint Networked Charging Station, is the first of 40 DMC charging stations.
