At the GBB, we understand that different businesses come in different shades of green. Which is just a fancy way of explaining that our program takes into account that not all businesses are starting from the same place, nor do they necessarily aspire to reach the same goal.

So when you first join the GBB program, you’ll take a brief online assessment that helps determine where your business currently falls on the green spectrum. You may even get credit for green habits you didn’t even realize you were doing! The results of your survey allow us to tailor your program, ensuring that you receive recommendations that make sense for your business.

2. Profile and Environmental Tracker

Your unique profile keeps track of your completed initiatives so you can monitor your going-green progress. Here you’ll also find the initiatives that yield the most “environmental bang for your buck” - recommended specifically for you. As you complete initiatives, the system will automatically recommend new initiatives across the five categories.

3. Initiative Detail & Resources

Want to learn more about how to actually get started with an initiative? The Initiative Detail page is where you can find additional information on any given initiative in a clear format. You’ll be able to see how an initiative ranks in three grading criteria: Investment, Effort, and Environmental Benefit.

Other important information on this page: description, key steps to complete the initiative, links to online vendor products, and of course an EcoPlan™ that you can print out to help you accomplish this initiative.

The environmental tracker allows you to monitor the direct impact of your green efforts. As a business, you can measure your success in the marketplace by looking at the numbers – like profits, costs, and other quantifiable factors. Now you can measure your success in the environment, too.

4. The EcoPlan™

Want to take the initiative information with you? Each initiative comes with its own EcoPlan™, a printable worksheet that guides you through exactly how to implement the initiative within your business.

The worksheet includes a step-by-step checklist with helpful steps on how to complete a given initiative. You will also be able to assign task owners and keep track of your timing. We know you are pressed for time, so we've done a lot of the research work for you.

5. Best-in-Class Green Seal

As a GBB member, you’ll receive our membership seal to display in your storefront and on your website—so customers will know you’ve been certified by our nationally recognized program. When visitors click on your online GBB seal, they’ll be taken to your business’s unique “landing page,” where they can find out more about your commitment to sustainability.

6. A Comprehensive Welcome Package

The GBB Welcome Package is delivered to your business upon enrollment in the GBB program. It includes:

• a display decal for your business location
• an online seal for your website, which will link to your GBB personal landing page so customers can learn more about your green commitment
• a brief welcome video that you can share with your staff to introduce them to the GBB program and its initiatives system
• an Environmental Compliance Poster that summarizes environmental regulations and practices for businesses
• a subscription to the GBB newsletter, along with a mention of your company’s new membership status
