Waterloo Ford Lincoln is a proud member of the Green Business Bureau and we are so excited for and proud of them because their latest endeavor is opening a brand new, GREEN showroom! Check out the showroom BEFORE:
And AFTER:
Wow! A beautiful new building and it’s GREEN too! They are proudly celebrating their Grand Opening in late October 2011.
What are 2-3 Actual examples of things you are doing to be green?
Waterloo’s own Sara McNeill tells us, “We are offsetting the carbon produce by our service shuttles and parts delivery trucks. Therefore, our vehicles driven on a daily basis are carbon neutral; carbon zero. Additionally, we are eliminating bottled water throughout our dealership and provide stainless steel bottles for all of our employees.
We will provide fair trade coffee, are powered by Green Bull Frog Power and are adding bike racks to encourage employees to bike to work. We even have a hybrid vehicle parking stall!”
What have been some of the biggest challenges to going green?
“The biggest challenge for us going green is simply that we are a car dealership. That provides and instant hurdle to overcome because the products we sell are harmful for the environment. Therefore we must make even more effort to being environmentally aware in all other aspects of our company.”
What positive results have you seen from going green?
“Waterloo Ford has established a paperless billing option for our clients. We call it the ‘Eco Option’ and it allows customers to have their receipts, bills etc. e-mailed to them instead of having paper copies. We also will offer them the option to off-set their vehicles for the year by purchasing carbon offsets. We also recycle throughout dealership – ink cartridges, electronics, oil, metal, paper, plastic, cardboard etc.”
Have you noticed a cost savings and if so, how?
“No direct cost savings as of yet but we do anticipate savings as a direct result of our renovation.”
Tell us about your experience with the GBB.
“Our experience with the Green Business Bureau has been very positive. They have been helpful and encouraging during our transition to becoming a greener dealership.”
