What are 2-3 Actual examples of things you are doing to be green?

I use energy efficient lighting and timers for as many electronic devices as possible. I am a photographer , so I use natural lighting as much as possible. I use paperless communication with clients in order to avoid wasting paper. I do a lot of local business, I only travel out of town for business when completely necessary.

What have been some of your biggest challenges about going green?

There really weren’t many challenges. I think that research was the only challenge, trying to increase my knowledge and increasing my awareness about what I could do to become more eco-friendly.

What have been 2-3 of your favorite GBB initiatives?

Of course recycling, learning what new things I could recycle. I use refillable ink cartridges. I work on sustainable projects and I love speaking to other business owners and spreading to word about going green.

What positive results have you seen from going green?

I have definitely gained more business due to being a green business. More and more people are getting involved in the shift towards being more aware. It definitely feels good to know that I am doing my part.

Experience with the GBB

I have had a very good experience. The Green Business Bureau has served a great way to gauge myself. I can actually see what more I can do, and also see what other businesses are doing. GBB offers a great framework for being eco-friendly and the site is very easy to use.

Customers want to buy from eco-friendly companies, so gain a competitive advantage by displaying the GBB seal.
Businesses that earn green business certification also save on energy and material costs.
