In an effort to do our part in sustaining the environment ASME’s going green! Running a janitorial company faces a unique set of challenges when going green. It has become our policy to try it out in our office first, and if it works, we’ll introduce it to our clients. This allows us to offer products we know can work for their offices, because it works in ours.

By responding to the concerns of our clients and our conscience, ASME now offers environmentally friendly cleaning solvents. ASME, Inc. has done months of research to find quality brands that get the job done while not sacrificing our environmental commitment. No one should be forced to endure nastiness that burns their olfactory senses and kills the ozone, even if it does leave your floors sparkling.

We are also using recycled paper products both in our office and with our clients. A change that simple has made an enormous difference in how we approach recycling. Just seeing the natural color of the paper towels reminds office workers to use then conscientiously.

Another thing we have embraced is a water cooler! We’re working on finding eco-friendly disposable cups, but in the meantime…we’ve all got mugs!

Our biggest challenges have been our inability to find every cleaning agent we need in an eco-friendly form; finding eco-conscious cleaning solvents that actually get the job done to our clients satisfaction, and getting all the overnight crews to not bring fancy bottled water or their lunch in Styrofoam containers.

So far we’ve really enjoyed having a water cooler in the office! Now if we could just keep enough mugs around!

Another favorite of ours is the energy efficient light bulbs in the office. They’ve been a great addition that has actually improved the moods of our workers.

Lastly, we’ve enjoyed being able to share the different cleaning products we now have available. Many of our clients are new to going green, so it’s been fun being able to introduce them to items we can vouch for because we’ve tried them ourselves.

Since our conversion to green is rather recent, our most positive results have come from the interest green products themselves generate. We get asked more questions about green technology and products, and it has expanded our customer arena by appealing to a clientele that is new and slightly different for us.

We’ve had nothing but good experiences with the GBB…so far. The staff is helpful and informative.
