METRO is expanding its reach in alternative energy production, processing and distribution to communities throughout New York State through the rehabilitation of an abandoned fuel storage facility in Calverton, Long Island. METRO is also currently building the largest biofuels processing plant in North America with a 110 million gallon a year capacity. METRO’s biodiesel multi-feedstock processing facility will be able to accept virtually all kinds of feedstock – including soy, canola, animal fats, waste-grease and algae. This facility will also utilize state-of-the-art technology that is designed to re-use water and recycle waste to maximize plant efficiency and lower costs. The biofuels plant is slated to be completed in Summer 2010.
