  • Since 1990, the City of Albuquerque has reduced greenhouse gas emissions from city operations by 58% and from city landfills by 73%. Albuquerque achieved First Place Honors from the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ 2007 Climate Protection Awards.

The University of New Mexico won the 2009 design/build award for the Building Intelligence GridWise project installed at their Albuquerque campus. A rooftop Solar Array is used with energy storage technology to limit demand spikes.


Georgia O’Keeffe Elementary School is a new 2 story building with 84,086 total gross square footage.This project is pursuing a LEED for Schools Silver certification, by using innovative daylighting techniques, storm water collection, thermal storage, operable windows, proper solar orientation, and an extremely efficient HVAC system.


The Cognitive Behavioral Institute of Albuquerque has been designed to reduce its energy use by more than 50% compared to a typical office building. It has solar photovoltaic system to provide surplus electricity for at least 8 months a year.
